Chester County IPP application process

Chester County offers a sentencing alternative for DUI offenses known as the Intermediate Punishment Program or I.P.P.  This program has a number of requirements which the applicant must complete in order to get I.P.P. consideration.

First, the person must fall into the "eligible" category, which can be found at this link:

Second, generally, the person must be charged with Driving Under the Influence or Driving Under Suspension-DUI related.  However, in 2012, Chester County expanded their IP program to include non-DUI level 3 or 4 offenders.

Third, the applicant must plead guilty and file an application with the Adult Probation Office.  The applicant must obtain a drug and alcohol assessment from a licensed provider, complete a CRN evaluation, pay and schedule for AHSS classes.

Lastly, the application must be submitted to the Adult Probation Office within a certain time before the sentencing date.

It is important to note that just because someone applies and may be eligible for IPP, it is entirely up to the judge whether the applicant actually gets into IPP.

It is important to contact an experience criminal attorney if you are interested in this alternative.
