Verification of Information for SORNA purposes in Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania's version of SORNA has revamped and increased the requirements of registrants.  In addition to increasing the offenses which require registration, SORNA also increased the time for which a person must register and how often he must appear, in person, to verify his information.  This entry will discuss the verification for each category of individuals who must register.

Tier 1: required to appear in-person annually (once a year)

Tier 2: required to appear in-person semiannually (twice a year)

Tier 3: required to appear in-person quarterly (four times a year)

Transient offenders (those who are homeless): required to appear in-person monthly, while transient

Juvenile offenders: required to appear in-person quarterly (four times a year)

Sexually Violent Delinquent Child: required to appear in-person quarterly (four times a year)

Sexually Violent Predator: required to appear in-person quarterly (four times a year)

ALL WHO ARE REQUIRED TO REGISTER: must report any changes to their information in-person within three business days of the change at an approved registration site.

An individual must report in-person within ten days before his verification date.  Failure to appear within that window constitutes a failure to register and could face punishment.

In order to find the verification sites, go to the Pennsylvania State Police's Megan's Law website.

If you have any questions regarding the registration process, information which must be disclosed, or anything else regarding SORNA, contact the attorneys at the Kelly Law Firm for a free consultation.
