New report shows troubling increase in violent crimes

by | Oct 4, 2017 | Violent Crimes

The annual report about crimes has recently come out. The news that this report contains for the southwestern Pennsylvania is hard to digest because it shows that violent crime in this area has increased.

The number of rapes, aggravated assaults, robberies and murders were up when data from 2015 and 2016 were compared. Interestingly, the number of homicides remained the same for both years even though murders increased.

The increase in violent crime wasn’t limited only to this area. In fact, violent crimes were up nationally when year over year data was compared. It is interesting to note that even though violent crimes are up from where they were five years ago, they are actually down from where they were 10 years ago.

This report is something that sheds light on what is going on around this area. It is difficult to understand the increase, but one thing is for certain. Since this report is centered around reports of crimes and not convictions, it doesn’t tell the full story.

Anyone who is accused of a crime has the option of presenting a defense against the charges that are levied. This defense is that person’s chance to tell his or her side of the story and to disprove the prosecution’s claims.

If you are in this position, think carefully about the options that you have. Your defense will require hard work, but this is a necessary part of figuring out what you are going to do. Make sure that you consider all options that you have before you so that you can choose the option you feels best suits your goals for the case.
