Pennsylvania troopers release high DUI arrest statistics for 2018

State troopers in Pennsylvania have a zero-tolerance policy against driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. If you choose to drive under the influence, state police will be on the lookout. They will not hesitate to arrest you for a DUI if you are impaired.

State troopers take DUI enforcement seriously in Pennsylvania. According to data recently gathered by Pennsylvania State Police, they made 20,143 arrests for DUIs in 2018. With the stiff penalties that go with a DUI charge, Pennsylvania residents need to know that state police will arrest impaired drivers.

High number of DUI arrests

Tracking arrests for DUIs can show how willing police are to stop anyone driving while impaired. The amount of DUI arrests went up 1% from 2017, where police made 19,963 DUI arrests. And for 2018, drug recognition experts – troopers specially trained to identify drug impairment – made 758 drug influence evaluations.

These numbers should concern anyone who chooses to drive impaired in Pennsylvania. Since these are only state police statistics, they don’t even match the total number of DUI arrests. And all these arrests are subject to Pennsylvania DUI penalties.

Strong penalties for Pennsylvania DUI

Pennsylvania has strong penalties for anyone who chooses to drive while impaired. The penalties increase in severity depending on your level of intoxication and whether you have had prior DUI charges. For people with a lower blood alcohol concentration (BAC) and no DUI history, they may receive a fine or probation. But for higher BAC levels, or for driving while using drugs, penalties can include fines up to $10,000 and up to five years in prison.

If you choose to drive while impaired, Pennsylvania State Police are ready to arrest you for a DUI. If they do arrest you, make sure to contact an attorney. With legal counsel, you can often have charges reduced or dropped.

The numbers show that Pennsylvania state troopers are out. If they catch you driving impaired, they will arrest you for a DUI.
