What Is The Crime Victims Compensation Fund/Program?

Crime victims in Pennsylvania have access to a Victims Compensation Assistance Program. This program provides funds to help victims recover from the difficult experience they have gone through. Expenses You Can Claim Through The Program

The program does not reimburse all losses you suffered as a crime victim. For example, it does not pay for pain and suffering. You would need to pursue a civil lawsuit to recover that type of claim. It does, however, cover many other expenses, such as:

  • Lost wages – If you could not return to work for a period of time after the crime, you may recover some of your lost earnings.
  • Medical bills – This covers any medical treatment for injuries resulting from the crime, as well as the assistance you need for daily living because of the injuries.
  • Mental health therapy – Your injuries may not only be physical in nature. You and your family may need counseling.
